I have replaced the LED illuminators in maybe 3 Orions with excellent results.

I obtained my illuminators and driver boards from LCD Parts.

The Orion is an easy one to repair. U have done the same LED upgrade to CFL illhuminated IC-756 series radios and these also worked out ver well.

My screen, I presume like most, has excellent contrast capabilities from total black through to completely washed out so the problem is just the back lighting it would seem. Is there perhaps a way to disassemble the lcd element and replace or enhance the back lighting?
