Malcolm, thanks.  Yes, the same symptoms appear when I test into a dummy 
load.

I'll follow Bob's advice and snug up the power connector, and clean and 
re-seat all the connections internal to the rig.  I'll report back, and 
hopefully that will solve it.  Thanks. 73,  John
