[TOEC] Contesters Code of Ethics

Good morning Johan,
Good news and thanks for sharing my views on how the contest community
itself can make a difference.
I got some feedback in private emails why one needs to support "another
American organization like WWROF" and not just agree on Code of Ethics.
Just to clarify my standpoint, the main thing is of course to agree on the
principles of Code of Ethics. To support any organization is for sure not
connected to this issue, and is just optional.
I see WWROF as an organization that obviously has determined that Code of
Ethics as important. When other contest clubs do the same, I would be glad
to support them as well. Contesting is not just about winning - it is about
winning in the light of Fair Play!
Sometimes I wonder why ethics is such a low level issue in contesting. Is
it because radiosport is considered "entertainment" rather than competitive
sports? Is it because the top contesters for some reason decide to avoid
this issue?
We spend so much efforts on building stations, optimizing operation
technique and compare results. Why should this not be done in the same way
and under the same focus as for other competitive sports?
