Friends in Radio Land,
It is time to pay your dues or whatever, 'fessing up to sins of omission
and commission. In that regard, K9LA and I are trying to pull together
the VK0IR experience on 160 meters. The general idea is to find out when
Top Band operators in the USA, even Canada and Mexico, either heard or
worked Heard Island. So the question is "Can you help?"
Our friend, KK6EK, has promised access to log data, say contacts by
calls, and that will prove to be most helpful in looking at the viable
paths. But, face it, there was such a thing as QRM or whatever and not
all the Deserving got through. So merely hearing VK0IR would be most
helpful for the physical analysis of the experience and we'd like to hear
from you, date and time of any contact or signal reception.
As you will see in the final analysis, the location of Heard Island and
the time of the DXpedition put very interesting physical constraints on
the propagation on 160. But, as the skeptics say, "theory is not always
right" so we would look to the assembled multitudes for their help in a
"Reality Check". Check your logs and give us dates and times for any
signals heard/worked from Heard Island. We need your help and will even
spell your name right in the final report. OK? Great! Let us hear
from you if you can help.
73,
Bob. NM7M
