For two hours after Sunset last night (North American sunrise time on
Saturday), 160m was full of S9 noise, but checking the band at 1230Z,
everything had gone quiet and NY7T was RST 559 calling CQ on 1.830.
After exchanging reports with Jim, I was called by Bob, N7UA who was peaking
599 plus 5dB. He replied by telling me I was the loudest he had ever heard me!
After working W7WA and K6VX - both 589/599 - there seemed to be no other
stations wanting to call me, so I went up the band and listened to Bob VK3ZL
and Bob N7UA chatting on SSB, with signals still over S9. It sounded like
20m rather than topband!
Sounds to me as though the dx season is just about started!

Steve, Vk6VZ
