TopBand: Conditions 22 Jan 1999

Were conditions that good??

I actually heard A45XR at RST 489 at 0030hrs on 1822kHz in amongst my S9
noise level, hurriedly strapped the feeders on the 80/40m trap dipole,
waited for him to finish wkg a W/K stn and then got a 559 report!!

The strange thing was:
 
1) I did not appear to get my 20dB increase in noise level around sunrise
as the on the previous morning!!
  
2) the LP opening to USA on 14MHz was not there at 0100-0200hrs as on the
previous morning and some other days ??

Ho-Hum & 73s

Was anything different??
