Hi Fellow Topbanders,
I am in a process of installing a 27m tall vertical for
160m at my new contest QTH.(flat valley with no
big obstacles at least 100 wavelenghts on 160m).
In the past I have only done verticals with burried
radials.
My new vertical will be on the ground(insulated base)
and I can not put elevated radials due to local condx.
So, I wonder what would be the effect, if for example
I burry say 20- 30 0.35 wave lenght radials 25 cm
below ground and place other 30 - 50 temporary
radials just laid on the ground. (Due to limitation of my
QTH borders I will have to fold around the radials
to fit a square of 100 X 100 feet.)
Putting a 600ft temporary "contest" beverages through
neighbours' places is not going to be a problem.
I think there won't be much difference in performance
if not all radials are not burried, but since I am not
real specialist in this field I would like to hear others
opinions, too.
Cu on the greatest of the bands this season.
