Topband: 160m sloper problem

Hi Ted,

The problem with a "sloper"  is the tower and feedline form the 
other half of the antenna. 

There is exactly the same current flowing from the feedline into the 
tower as there is into the sloper itself. Of course the current in the 
"tower" divides and spreads into everything attached to the tower.

Sometimes that all works out OK, sometimes it does not. 
Sometimes the tower attachment point is such an awful impedance 
that nothing you do with the "sloper" will work.

You could add a counterpoise wire, 1/4 wl long, out the other 
direction. Of course you would just wind up with an inverted Vee 
Dipole with a very poor feedpoint if you did that.

Otherwise, you could move the sloper attachment point up or down 
many feet, until you find a "sweet spot".
