Hello All!

        I have a few requests:

1. Please do not post routine spots on the reflector...use Packet-
cluster which is much more timely and a better place for such posts.

2. If you are using Outlook Express, please turn off your html
generators...they add about 3X the bandwidth necessary and I have
to manually delete all the crap some Microsoft software nerd set
as the default condition. To turn it off, go to Outlook Express,
select Tools - Options - Send and then select "Plain Text" under
"Mail Sending Format". I moderate all posts on this reflector but
even those that are unmoderated on contesting.com are set to
automatically bounce all messages with html attachments.

3. Please post your XZ0A congratulatory messages to Milt N5IA
(miltj@aepnet.com) and Robin WA6CDR (wb6tza@socal.rr.com) directly
and not the reflector. They are certainly due thanks from ALL of
us but please don't flood the reflector with 800 individual notes of
congratulations!

4. Please review the reflector guidelines below if you haven't done
so in awhile. If you post something and it doesn't appear, it is
probably because you are not following these guidelines! I try to
strictly follow them to maintain the high quality of information and
low noise we enjoy here.

5. Please remember to check the archives before posting a question
to make sure it has not been answered previously. I just checked
and the Y2K problem HAS been fixed at http://www.contesting.com/
(look under Archive Search at the left side of the page) but has NOT yet
been fixed at Eham Detective at http://www.eham.net/search/

This is sometimes a thankless job and I always run the risk
of upsetting some. Just remember that I'm trying to keep Topband
focused on really worthwhile information for all of us and not a lot of
garbage...please do your part to help me!

                                                TU & 73, Bill W4ZV

Reflector Guidelines:

Welcome to the topband mailing list! This list is intended for the exchange of
information on 160-related topics ONLY. Our goal is to keep 160 information
content high and noise low. Do not post questions about general topics like
equipment wanted/for sale, E-mail addresses needed, etc. Occasional problem
160 QSL requests are OK but use this reflector ONLY as a last resort after
trying the ususal sources. Feel free to post 160-related questions, but request
responses directly and then summarize the responses in a followup post.

DO NOT USE THIS REFLECTOR TO POST COMPLAINTS,
CRITICISMS, GRIPES, ATTACKS, ETC. VIOLATORS OF THIS
POLICY WILL BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT NOTICE.

Be considerate of other subscribers who have bandwidth limitations and edit
posts for succinctness. When responding to a specific individual, think
carefully before copying to the entire reflector. Minimize noise, minimize
bandwidth,
maximize 160 information, act like gentlemen and enjoy!
