Topband: Feed Line

I do not recall ever seeing any antenna projects or designs utilizing open
wire or ladder line to feed a 1/4 wave vertical.  I would like to feed my 80
meter vertical with ladder line so I can use it on other bands but, I have
not seen it's use discussed or in print.  Is there something inherently
wrong or difficult (besides the physical) with trying to feed a vertical
with ladder line?  I think it would be ideal for an elevated radial system.
