Topband: Feed Line

I see no reason ladder line would not work, except if the impedance of the
antenna is low as in the case of a vertical (25-35 ohms), the impedance
swings on the line will be high, making line length critical at the feed
point and presenting some  high voltage at points along the line that could
be limiting factors especially with high power.
