Check out the URL below on some actual measurements of coiled versus 
ferrite chokes. Unfortunately the data at the time was aimed  towards beam 
applications and the data only covers coils up though 8 turns. But I think 
it gives insight into what is possible. The data goes down to 1 MHz however 
and is at least insightful
