>From PI4COM:

1) Ulli notes that the Dutch upper SSB limit is now 1870
2) Other Eu countries can go even higher
3) Frequencies below 1845 are really JAMMED in Europe making Dx'ing vy tough
on SSB
4) He plans to find a hole above 1845 and try simplex operation there.

Good Hunting - he is LOUD at his sunrise period.

Jeff,
got your both E-mails...
About highest QRG for us here in SSB :
- previously we had out maximum at 1850 !!!! - but since half a year it has
been extended for 1870kHz in Holland...

Other Europeans have probably different rules...
Also pwr out is very different in EU - for example in DL the maximum is
still 75wtts !!! Do you believe it ?! of coase no contester will run without
PA on topband...

There is of coarse another problem !
There will be many many EU's call in SSB band 1845....1880 probably even
higher...
But because people know that some countries have lower limits than 1900 most
of them will be packed on the segment 1845...1870

AND: the multi/single and Single OP stations don't need so much DX, but will
focus on the 50 local EU multis... (you don;t need to word DX for these
multis - and you may better get the points on the higher bands...
Of coarse not true for Multi.multi like us !
But it means, that for us here it will be very very difficult to hear the
DX-stations through all the EU's making a lot of EU-contacts...
So, I believe for us the best strategy is:
Catch and keep a qrg above 1843 for SIMPLEX operation and Call CQ as strong
as possible BOTH in DX AND in EU !!!
Like this we can keep the qrg clear (as we might be 59+40dB in Europe...hi)
and so can hear the US-stations calling us on our QRG above 1843

If we would call lower than 1843... there is NO qrg where we have any chance
to here DX - consider the very high density of population here in Europe -
almost everyone is 59+20dB, because we all are so close together - this is
COMPLETELY different that US !
(I have worked ARRL and WPX from W6EEN.... ... for 160m in the middle of
nowhere, even DON has a fantastic station...)

Greetings, hope to work you next weekend...
