I can't argue with anything in your excellent treatise, George... RE, the
corrosion potential: the copper top hat is now down, but it was on there for
three winter DX seasons (~2.5 years)... The copper pipe was clamped to the
tower legs with stainless hose clamps... Not the slightest bit of corrosion
was noticed when I removed them... This is in michigan, sorrounded by
water... So, go figure...

I have over a hundred radials under the tower, plus radials under each of
the sloping reflectors (miles of wire) and I see a bit over 2:1 at resonance
(without the reflectors) indicating ~25 ohms... I suspect it is coupling to
the other tower a half wave away <15 and a half sections with a 4 el 40 on
top and a KLM tribander at 120 feet on a ring >

This summers project is to install a drop wire to detune the big tower, and
build a remotely tunable matchbox at the base of the driven tower...

Along with new beverages, feedlines, etc., etc... I think I need to retire
and work full time just to maintain the station, without even using time to
operate...

Cheers .... Denny
