Topband: 160m Four Square Array; FT-1000D Keyclick mod

I recently did a whole bunch of
mods to my FT-1000D, as documented
on K3KY's web site.  In fact, I
invented a new mod of my own which
I am going to submit to K3KY.

The W8JI key click mod was one of the easier
ones to do, once I got out the 
soldering iron, but I admit spending
some time trying to understand the
instructions first.  I'm one of those
"measure twice, cut once" types.

Anyway, when you cut the second wire
from the right (about an inch from the
connector), you now have a 1 inch
wire connected to the connector, and
then you have the rest of the wire
you cut that is still in the harness.
The wire still in the harness is the
"flying harness lead" and goes to the
collector.  The 1 inch wire goes to 
the emitter.  

Hope that helps.  If not, we need a
photo.

While you're at it, you should do
W8JI's noise blanker mod.  It's really
easy, although again you have to
think about the instructions a bit.

Don't try the APF mod; I think you'll
find it too advanced, although the
results are wonderful.
