Many of the new model transceivers are now coming with two complete
receivers just for this purpose,
I have the Orion, and it has such a capability, with two Receivers, 3
antenna inputs and multiple audio output to the headphones. it can be
brought very close to in-sync but not quite because the two receivers can
not be set to the 'same' VFO.
The Specs on the 7800 indicate that it also has two equal receivers , but I
don't know if a single VFO can drive both.
As to it's uses, yes, it is very usefull, the grey matter between the ears
is a far better DSP than any so far, using this method can help make a
signal copyable that would not otherwise. It is interesting to hear the
phase shift between antennas and the way it seems to move in space when you
are listening to it.
