If you copied "CARY" last night... YOU'RE RIGHT!!!

The 500 micro-watt results are in and George, W8UVZ has edge out Bill, W4VZ
(1,109,980 Mi/W) by a nose. W8UVZ now holds the title at 1,146,000 Miles
per watt. It wouldn't have been as close but W4VZ copied the 491 uW signal
while W8UVZ copied at the more robust 500 uW but he's 35 miles further
away.

Despite the 3dB drop in power from the previous night, I still received 7
reports. The Beverage guys still seem to be having the easiest time with it
although the W8UVZ phased vertical system bagged the trophy. Watch out
however--rumor on the street is that Paul, AA4XX, is about to deploy a
secret weapon. It's apparently able to hear a flea burp from halfway
across the globe. On the other hand, the majority of reports are with
dipole antennas.

The beacon frequency is tentatively changing (again) to 3545.5 KHz. I will
send out an update around noon today.

Here's the Reports in order of receipt:
Call, Name - State - RST - Distance - Comments

W1FV, John - MA - n/a - 137mi - Orion/Beverage
W4VZ, Bill - NC - 449 - 545mi - Orion/Beverage
K3JT, Terry - WVA - noise level - 351mi- IC706/160 M dipole (Terry copied
significant portions of the message but not the code word--statstically
getting screwed by noise)
N2KZ, Karl - NY - noise level - 22mi - HW16/80M dipole
W1ZC, Dick - NH - 229 - 135mi - TS850/80M dipole
W8UVZ, George - MI - 339 - 573mi - FT1000D/phased vertical
W3GH, Bob - PA - 529 - 309mi - FT1000D/???

Thanks, Merry Christmas and 73,

N2XE
