I hear you on the band often Randy. You clearly have the right
stuff (persistence and patience) to do well. I think you are on the
right track. Good luck and many new ones in 2004!
Thanks Bill
your commits well noted ::I move here to the Outback Ranch in high Desert in 1999 got most of the antennas up in 2001 I have worked 102 dx counters in the pass 2 season . I am still making changes on the antennas hoping to improve the tr/rec . It's like when I was on EME the antennas are never completed . always wanting to try another one .
73 all the best for the year 2004

I personally feel a "window" is a waste of space and should be eliminated.
My sentiments exactly Jon...
If no one called CQ, how would anyone make any contacts?
Not only that Jon when a dx station split they usually move the pileup into the window so what good is it then ( I have not hear any comments about that ..

JA window from 1810-1825"
Earl : I did not know this was window not to call cq in. I though it was the Ja band plan like the one they have in 1.9 part on the band..They use to call and tune down in 1.8 . I use to work them that way a few years ago .
W1BB, W2EQS and all of the other old-time Topbanders would roll over in
their graves if they heard what some are saying about the window!
Earl: Time are changing we have to change with it or be left behind.. I have probably been on 160 as long as you . I'm willing to make change to keep up with the ever changing times .
73 have a happy new year

Yes but no. Having a dedicated DX window in effect during a contest, especially on 160, is a good thing. Imagine trying to pull out those weak EU sigs while domestic big guns are all around you; and nobody moves away from each other so that their outer-most edges of their wide bandwidth are not on top of another!
Are you working the contest or dx ? Give the contester a bk, dx will always be around the contest will be over in a few hours.

Many of the DX stations I have worked in contests would never have been
heard if not in that part of the band. Because US stations were not in it it
gave a few Khz free from NA signal's.
Hi Ron
As I pointed out to KB9CRY are we working the contest or dx:::The 160 meter is a noisy band . Pulling those weak one out is the fun of Hamming .

It has been interesting reading the discussion about the DX Windows. I
think I am glad that the Stew Perry contest doesn't take a position on
them.
Hi Tree
Yes it has been interesting . It's like this : The dx windows must be where ever one set . I tune the bands find a dx station work him . As I tune there only a few signal on . I spot the dx station on dx cluster and set there a few second . WOW the band come alive . I wonder where all these hams were b4 .
