"Short path" and "long path" become meaningless at the antipodal point.  EVERY
direction of the compass is a "short" path - the concept of  "antipodal
focussing"  follows from this fact.  Of course, only certain paths will be open,
and any skewing of signals will reduce the focussing effect.
