Doug,  IMHO any kind diode in a long wire such as a Beverage is formula for
disaster with detection, rectification and intermod generation. Even disimilar
metals are bad enough problems in garbage generation in weak signal
reception.  Why make it easier for unwanted signals to make there way to your
receiver?
