Topband: Key clix, FT-1000MP and Yaesu service (or lack thereof)

A word of caution to FT-1000MP owners who might be thinking of using Yaesu to service their rigs. After Garry, NI6T (yes, Garry, this is all your fault, hi) commented on the key clix emanating from my 1000MP MKV on 160, I decided to send it off to Yaesu for the appropriate mod. They received the rig on December 7, and I got a postcard back stating that the turnaround time would be 2 weeks. After weeks of having clerks tell me that they would get to the rig "shortly," I finally got to speak to someone who actually knew something this morning. He told me that they only have one tech, and that he was still working on rigs received in October! He claimed the turnaround was now 2 months, but since they've had my rig for 6 weeks, and they are stilling dealing with October's rigs, I'd be amazed if the turnaround will be much less than 3 months.

Luckily I have another rig to use in the meantime, but if you don't and you are thinking of sending the rig off to Yaesu for a quick fix, think again.
