Topband: Noisy

Good Morning all:

Both last evening and this morning(Wed PM, Thurs AM) 160 was terribly noisy,
and the K9AY type antenna was totally ineffective.  It sounded like
lightning static. Was this a general condition or have I developed a
problem?  I did adjust the termination value in the receiving loops
yesterday.  I managed to work G3FPQ, but he was so loud I didn't need a
special antenna to hear him.
