Topband: Wire antennas and antenna analyzers

I need a little advice on using antenna analyzers to tune topband antennas.
As they are pretty long I assume they build up some static that might hurt
an instrument connected. Am I right? I just bought myself a brand new
Palstar analyzer and I would hate to zap it the first thing I do, how should
I protect myself against disaster?
