Very sad news to hear about Dick's death.
If ever there was a dedicated low bander, it was
N6FF. Seems that for the past 5 - 10 years every time
we'd get together at Visalia, I'd be thanking him for
traveling the globe to give me another new on 160.
His dedication and patience was remarkable. I
remember particularly when he was out in East Timor
(4W) with the giant tower and fierce noise, I'd hear
him CQing hour after hour after hour. He knew we were
hearing him and he was determined to keep going,
hoping to catch a break so a few could make it into
the log. And it worked. What dedication.
Last time I saw him, I was kidding him that he'd
have to go back to XU because I could never hear him.
He jokingly suggested that I join him next trip so we
could put up bigger antennas.
If ever there was an operator you wanted on the
other end of an exotic callsign, it was Dick.
Boy, what a loss. We're sure going to miss him.
RIP, OM.
