Topband: Beverage question

In John Devoldere's Low Band DXing book (second edition)
he states to NOT run a beverage through the woods.

...published 13 years ago.  There is nothing like that in the
4th edition.  The best investment anyone can make if they
are serious about Topband is John's latest edition for $40.
Most of mine are in the woods and they work fine, even
when foliage is on the trees.  However I do use insulated
wire to keep foliage/twigs from directly touching bare wire.
