My vote would be to leave things as they are.
 
October on Topband is NOT USUALLY better than December - usually it is the  
other way round.
 
Less DARKNESS and more ATOMOSPHERIC NOISE are two reasons (from this  
location) that sway my opinion as well.
 
Lastly - between XMAS and New Year's is a great time to hold this contest -  
as many people are off on holidays and participation is enhanced as a  result.
 
Leaving things as they are seems to make the most sense to me.
