I just checked my logs and of the 183 countries I have confirmed on 
160, 14  new ones were worked in the months of May through 
August.  Several others such as VK and ZL etc.  are much easier 
to   work in the summer,  almost always before our sunrise.

So don't give up for the summer.  Calling cq a half hour before 
sunrise frequently works here.
