Far greater minds than my own have, I'm sure, pondered that very question
"...ad infinitim"...

With my meagre mental capabilities here, I have finally come to the
conclusion that it's OK to listen to the propagation forecasts, alright, but
that it's much, MUCH better to have the rig close at hand, & to tune it
frequently across the band, interspersed with the odd CQ call...!
