Topband: snow, rain static on inv-l?????

Is there anyway to cut or eliminate all the static on an inv-L?  I hear quite well; but could hear easier and with less fatigue if the static crashes and noise were minimalized?!

Anyone have any ideas; short of turning the radio off that is?

I am operating with only 65 watts and an ICOM IC-735 into a 90 foot Inv-L thanks to southern Pine trees here in South Carolina  :>(   :<>)
