Topband: locals

I have done well in a low noise happy environment even using an old TS850,
and could hear anything propagation would allow. I do have good rx arrays.

For the contest a local high power multi station moved in a few blocks away.
It paralyzed the rx over much of the band, at least 60 over 9. Even 18 db
of attenuation didn't help, as I think the signal came in beyond the
attenuator. I was discouraged and went to bed before 9 pm each night. Did work a few
on the other end of the band, 18 zones and 35 Europeans, including Bulgaria
and Israel. So not all was lost. No complaints about the Europeans.

I am going to borrow a K3 to see if that helps.

Is there any in-band filters that might help, or any other ideas? I would
like a remote antenna but it doesn't seem practical here. I could visit a
further away multi station, but would rather chase new countries from my own
station. I won't beat the dead horse more except that contesting and dxing (I
like the latter) dont mix well.

Thanks, 73, Bob in MT
