Topband: Equal opportunity

In the just concluded CQWW 160M CW contest I was told "no dupes" by a
multiplier DX station. The DX op would not complete the QSO. Timing wise
there is no doubt who the DX was telling "no dupes". I had in fact
worked that call a week or two prior to the contest on TB. This is the
only active station from the country, the only opportunity for the mult.
Some were able to log it, some who definitely had access were not.
Of course what the operator wants to do with his station and his
callsign is entirely up to him. I'm concerned about contesting equal
opportunity. Its hardly fair that a juicy multiplier, the only active
station, is allowed in the scores if the op discriminates against those
who have worked that station before.
I wrote CQ about it, requesting that all QSOs from the "no dupes"
station be disallowed in the contest. CQ brushed me off. Without help,
most likely from users of this forum, that discriminatory mult will be
allowed in our scores.
Anyone with an opinion in the matter needs to write
k2mga at cq-amateur-radio.com, contests at arrl.org, anyone else sponsoring
contests on 160M where DX are mults.
If nobody but me says anything then one day you may find yourself on the
receiving end of a loss by one mult. You have my opinion, no need to
tell me what you think. Write the organizers. Stations who blatantly
discriminate can't be allowed in the scores.
We don't need to discuss who the DX is. Not up to me or anyone else how
that station is run. This is for the rules committees.
