HAM-type rotors and connectors

I have used the C.A.T.S. Quick Disconnect (QD) for , I am sure, 8 years and
never had the two problems you mentioned. My suggestions/comments:

1.  I realized early on  that the male connector looking down out of the
motor was a form of plastic and when in storage could be damaged. I would
put  4-5 of the plate bolts in their respective holes in the motor as
"legs". Cured that risk. Another solution would be to put a spare female end
on as a 'cover'.

2. Wind erosion damage? Never evidenced that problem. In 3 years of usage in
windy/sandy Casper Wyoming and now almost 6 years in (what I call) very
little wind and sand South Texas: Nyet problemo.(No problem)

I don't know if there is a metal connector available? I suspect it can be
damaged, while in storage just as well, without some form of protection.
