Just ran a quick check on the effect of placing the driven element UNDER ( 
instead of above ) the boom plane (2ft) and would like to share the 
following:

elevation angle change = 0
gain change = -.35db
f/b change = -.65db

but...

Beam  width improved from 68 to 66 deg.

I am using as a model a 3 ele 10 m  12 ft. boom beam elevated to 1wl.
