If anyone drills through a concrete floor (or laterally through a basement wall) to install ground rods, make sure you seal around the holes/rods with a good quality flexible sealing compound.  Otherwise this can become a major entry point for radon gas which often accumulates beneath a slab, but may not be getting into your living space otherwise.

I would drill a hole in the concrete floor and drive a ground rod as deep as
you can go.  You might consider welding two ground rods together and place
16 feet in the ground instead of just 8 feet.
