Some discussions on more than one list of phased arrays with parasitic
director(s) left a few questions, such as what performance are they
capable of and how does one go about designing one. I have put some
preliminary notes at the site under the titel in the subject line in the
upper HF section, since the effort was modeled as a 12-meter design.
General answer is that a 2-element phased array, properly designed with an
added director and making up the boom length of a long-boom 3-element Yagi
or short-boom 4-element Yagi performs quite well indeed, even in this
first order design trial. The notes may be of use to others wanting a
point of departure for modeling of their own. Hope the notes are useful.
