[TowerTalk] 402-CD Questions

Greetings,

I have a couple of questions for the 402-CD experts out there. I am in the
process of the final assembly of a 402-CD with the W9RE upgrade kit to bring
it into 100 MPH specification.

Question #1: With the installation of the 36" boom insert plus the heavier
and larger boom to mast plate, is it still necessary to install the mast to
boom struts? I really question their structural integrity in the long run,
since they are attached rigidly to the mast. I can see where horizontal
flexing of the boom may fatigue the aluminum tabs on the strut where they
attach to the mast over time. I would just as soon leave them off if
possible. It makes for a much cleaner installation.

Question #2: Is the director to reflector dimension of 21 ft., 11 in.,
measured from the center line of the director element to the center line of
the reflector element, or is measured from the inside edge of the director
element to the inside edge of the reflector element? On my copy of the
installation instructions it is hard to tell, but it looks like they are
dimensioning from the inside to inside. This would put the elements awfully
close to the ends of the boom.

Thanks for the help!
