[TowerTalk] Lightning Proof Antenna?

Living here in lightning-intensive central Florida can be a
nuisance sometimes. I'd like to be able to operate on line-
isolated battery power when lightning is in the area but do not
dare to do so with outside antennas.

Anyone have recommendations for reasonably effective attic
antennas? For emergency and missionary traffic operation I am
most interested in 20 meters, 40 and 80 are secondary and 15 &
10 are nice-to-haves.

My initial thought is a dipole or folded dipole. Our attic is the
typical Florida attic with a large heater and air conditioning
distribution unit. It is otherwise empty (don't wish to create any
homes for our endless assortment of bugs).

I think I have about 40 feet of length (East - West) and a few feet
of clearance above, below and to the sides.

Thanks! & 73, DavidC K1YP
