This topic has probably appeared here before, so if someone can just
send me to the right month and year to look at past articles, I will be
satisfied. I am interested in shunt feeding my 50-foot tower, but it is
guyed, and the guys are not insulated. I assume that it is necessary to
insulate them, especially if I want them to act as a capacitance hat,
 but I would like confirmation.

 Thank you,

Jan: Try this for the ultimate in K7GCO simplicity. It's a variation of the
sloper. 5' off the ground, connect the coax shield to the tower and run one
radial parallel to the ground connected to the center lead of the coax.
Adjust wire length for resonance--not the tower. Try it at different heights
with the tower grounded or not. If you get RF in the shack from rotator
wires and beam coax shield, by-pass each one to the tower base and or ground.
The coax shield can be connected directly to the tower base and or ground.
Let me know how it works for you and or others who try this. It sure works
for me. K7GCO
