actually... if what you want is the lowest overall system NF, it is very
easy to make the first pre-amp TOO low and actually degrade overall system
NF.  VERY non-intuitive.  I can't remember the formula exactly but system NF
= sqrt(NF1^2 + NF2^2) or some such....
