I had a galvanized Rohn tower up for over 30 years, and when I took
it down, I was astonished at the good condition of the galvanizing
and hence, the steel, even at the joints. The tower is still lying in
my side yard, lookin' good.
I suspect that paint isn't necessary, but it probably shouldn't hurt.
