Very interesting, Gerhard.  I do think you need to transfer your modeling
to a real ground environment, since ground reflection plays such a large
part in the performance of HF stacks.

It would be interesting to reoptimize the quad designs for F/B in the
stacked configuration, because 3-5 dB seems pretty grim...  No reason I can
see why a quad should work less well than a Yagi in this regard.
