Lou Tristao used a 3 cable system for all of his designs (Tristao,
Towermaster, Palmer). He did special design work for
Frank Clement (Tri-EX) and Mosley but used their design specs so they may
have another system.
The three cable system (as on my Tristao 71') is a separate cable for each
section. These cables work in tandem to raise the tower
equally. The winch design provides for actually cranking up and down with a
brake. US Tower has improved the design as they provide as a better winch.
I don't know about the motorized versions, but US Tower has replaced the
simple motor with a complete tracking system
thus the extra expense for the MDL versions. Another design is to use one
cable and loop it through all the sections. I heard Lou talk at
a convention in the late 60's...his talk should be must reading for those
who want a crank up...maybe some one has a copy. His designs
have probably sold more than other crank up makers combined..mine has worked
great for 31 years.
BTW Texas Tower is a US Tower dealer...sorry...no slight intended.
