For beams mounted on buildings, especially commercial building that may have
metal in roof (even all metal roof), is the height for wave angle purposes
the height above ground or above the building?

Subject: [TowerTalk] Performance of the C4/E on Warc and 40 M?

Hello All,

I am about to undertake some Antenna Upgrades and was
considering the C4/E family for the new primary beam. It would
replace an aging Th-6 (Which would probably just move 30 ft down
the tower). A little background first. The Tower is 40 ft of Rohn 25,
but the Tower is mounted on the 5th floor of the building, on one of
the sides. So the beams' height is really about 100 ft. This is for a
University Club Station. My questions are the following:

1. How does the C4/E family perform on the Warc Bands? I know
its not designed for it, but it does have gain.. We have tuners so
thats not a problem. How does it compare to, lets say, the 3
element Warc from Cushcraft or other similar sized beams?

2. How does it perform on 40 M? We currently have up a 1/2 Wave
Dipole at 35 feet, Beaming EU/SW. The takeoff angle is a wee bit
high, but it does get out. The 40 Element of the C4 would be about
10 ft higher. I know the Bandwidth is about 1/2 of the dipole, But
would performance differences can we expect, Especially for DX?

Thank you all in advance for the help. Much appreciated by this
station...
