If the tower is not quarter wave resonant but shorter, the shunt coil can
also represent a loading/matching (auto) transformer that includes a proper
tapping to obtain 50 Ohm.
Nothing prohibit the shunt coils are made with large tubing able to
withstand the lightning strike currents.
