While we're on the subject :
In the FT 1000D, you have 2 receivers. The sub-receiver can be operated from
the main antenna, on the same band as the main receiver (they share a common
Bandpass filter), or from a separate antenna when connected to the Sub
Bandpass Filter panel on the rear. You must decide which way you want it to
work, and then take the radio apart, and set a switch for whichever mode you
want/ If you want to monitor say 10M and 20M at the same time, you can do
so, but you must set the switch accordingly, and then provide another
antenna for the sub receiver. Doing so nullifies the ability to use the RX
(Beverage) antenna jack on the sub receiver.Kinda nuts if you ask me, so I
came up with a mod (Yeasu pages Archives) that allows you to panel select
which mode you want to use (sacrifices the DIM switch, but is easily retro).
Another mod (same article, sacrifices the IF jack on rear apron) allows you
to use the same antenna on both receivers, but on independent bands. This
same mod allows an outboard receiver to be cabled in to the main receive
antenna also. All other features are retained, including using a separate
antenna on the sub receiver if you chose to do so.These easy to perform mods
opens up the inherent flexibility that is locked up in the stock version.
