I'm sure that things vary in different locales. However, here in the KC
area, I find that people are very territorial. Because I have the biggest
yard in the neighborhood, I have had to pay for two surveys, just to satisfy
various neighbors, some of whom threatened violence. I had the engineering
company notch the curbs and put flags everywhere. I buried many feet of
rebar on the lot lines. I wouldn't dare extend over into a neighbor's yard
around here. I would be told in no uncertain terms to move the whole setup.
When I dug the hole for my tower, I very carefully selected the spot. I knew
what antenna I was going to use, and was able to visualize where the element
would be while turning. I made darn sure that it was totally above my
property. Same goes for my tower. If my tower fell, it would fall on my
property. do it right from the beginning and you wont have to sweat it. You
are not paying for the neighbor's yard, why would you think he would like
your ugly antenna sticking over his property? IMHO, of course.
