Check for conductivity across one of the insulators.

I've frequently had problems with carbon building up across the insulators over
time due to salt spray on my HF2 - perhaps a lightning strike might be 
enough to
help fry whatever had been on your HF6.

Alternatively, perhaps the 80m cap fried (unlikely) or a similar 
conductivity has
formed around it.  I've had problems with heavy rain in 9M6 mucking things up
with both the 80 & 30m bits (an HF6 stripped down to just an HF2).  A cover
solved that, but unfortunately not the QRN often that usually accompanies the
wet!
