No more nuts that the average ham who probably was told at some point that
he couldn't build a transmitter either.... but built one anyway.  I'm no
engineer, so I'm sure I wouldn't do as pretty a job. And I was only
mentioning the Handbook wooden support as an example of homebrew, not a
suggestion of building a wooden tower.  Although... in my travels out west
I've seen a whole lot of wooden windmill towers 30 to 50 ft. high, carrying
pretty good windloads. And many of them were old.... maybe 25 years or even
more. Lots of wooden tower-like structures have stayed up for years.... all
depends on how they are built.  The question for me is cost.... a large
wooden structure would probably be more expensive than a smaller, metal one.
Tell me, my friend, should Marconi have paid attention when people
