No, It was not a failure of the product. The wind storm  (microburst)
that bent it was clocked locally at 90 mph. And there was 15 sq ft of
antenna mounted on it. So, the tower performed up to specs. The wind
was just beyond the specs. My own insurance paid for the replacement.

BTW, with respect to the liability insurance issue, lawyers can say
"not our fault" till the cows come home. If there is a design flaw or
shoddy workmanship, I'll find just as many lawyers and experts to say
"it is your fault", especially if someone is hurt or killed by a falling tower.
In such a case, it would help to have another party ( manufacturer) in the
docket with you.
But you are right, carrying your own insurance for liability is also a good
policy.  You can't have too much insurance  :-).
