In the discussion of Hygain 40 meter beams bear in mind that there were
three different beam made over time by Hygain.

1. 402BA was a linear loaded 2 el with 16 ft boom and was very popular in
the 70's. N4RJ had one that he modified
as the original had a boom that usually fell apart over time.

2. The same 402BA was incorporated with a 20 meter 3 el beam in the
Duo-bander. W5CKY{W5AO) the famous 40 meter
contester in Mississippi had one and he worked Europe before even
the East coast. The boom on this model was much more
substantial and the 40 meter beam fared much better. Bob's beam was still
up when be became a SK about 15 year ago.

3. The later model was the 1 2, or 3 element discovery beam which
appeared to be an improved model of the 402BA.

Hygain also made a 3 el full size beam that K2HLB and K7UGA had up in the
Long John series.

Just wanted to make sure of what model we spoke.
